ECOLOGIST (ECOLOGICAL SITE SPECIALIST)

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. Time in grade:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade to be considered for the next higher grade (e.g. one year at the GS-07 grade level for consideration for the GS-09 grade level). Basic Education Requirement:
Degree:
Biology, or a related field of science underlying ecological research that included at least 30 semester hours in basic and applied biological sciences. These hours must have included at least 9 semester hours in ecology, and 12 semester hours in physical and mathematical sciences. In addition to meeting one of the Basic Requirements listed above, applicants must meet the following Minimum Qualifications Requirement in order to be considered:
Specialized
Experience:
To qualify for the GS-09 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. This experience must demonstrate that the applicant possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation. Examples of specialized experience include:
Under close supervision, conduct environmental investigations, application of inventory and classification in unique and/or diverse ecosystems; describe and classify soil and vegetation dynamics in plant communities; develop, write, and analyze environmental impact statements, categorical exclusions, and other documents, in order to make assessments into formats suitable for Ecological Site Descriptions; OR Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience for the GS-09 level:
two (2) year(s) of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR Combination of Education and
Experience:
A combination of graduate-level education and experience, as described above, may be used to qualify for this position. This combination must have equipped you with the necessary knowledge and/or experience to successfully perform the duties of this position. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
