Social Worker

Serves as a Social Worker in a Health Services Department of a Federal Bureau of Prisons correctional facility. Provides long term medical and/or mental health services for the institution. Required to exercise professional skill and judgment in diagnostic evaluations, and developing placement plans for the inmates. Responsible for all community planning which may involve residential reentry centers, community treatment placement, state hospital placement, medical hospital placement, or other aftercare situations. Responsible for answering all community inquiries in a timely manner and within the parameters of the Privacy Act of 1974 as well as the Freedom of Information Act. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staffs correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis. Basic Requirements:
Degree:
Social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Master's degree with practicum:
Applicants who complete all of the requirements for a master's degree in social work that included a practicum are eligible for GL-09. AND In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must have:
Education:
3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. Graduate education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR
Experience:
You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with specific qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are:
Experience demonstrating a professional knowledge of the theories, principles and values of social work required to develop and maintain social work programs and to manage a wide range of patients, e.g., various ages, acutely psychotic, assaultive, and/or terminally ill. Experience showing knowledge in the areas of psycho-social, cultural, economic human behavior dynamics, as they specifically relate to a patient faced with acute or chronic illness. Experience providing family therapy, individual counseling and/or group therapy with other treatment staff. OR Have a combination of education and experience. This experience must have equipped you with the qualifications to perform the major duties of this position as described above. AND Selective Placement Factor:

Applicant must possess a license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), License Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), or equivalent unrestricted, independent, clinical license. NOTE:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
