Substitute work is on-call and as-needed and there are no guaranteed hours as a substitute.
As a substitute, we ask that you make yourself available no less than three (3) days per week and that you work within your stated availability.
Under the direction of the Food Service Supervisor, assist in the preparation and serving of food items at an assigned school cafeteria or snack area; clean food service equipment, utensils and serving areas.
Minimum Qualifications Required to Apply Any combination equivalent to:
sufficient education to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above and one year of experience in quantity food preparation and service and a Current San Bernardino County Food Worker Certificate.

Essential Duties Prepare food items following standard recipes and procedures; serve and sell meals and a la carte items in the cafeteria, snack bar or other food service facilities.
E Chop, slice, mix, grate, and assemble food items for sandwiches, salads, side dishes, soups, dressings; assure proper food item portions are prepared and distributed according to establish procedures.
E Operate deep fryers; cook a variety of fried foods such as french fries, onion rings, corn dogs, egg rolls, and others.
E Serve food items to students, faculty and staff; apportion fruits, vegetables, and other items according to established guidelines.
E Clean dishes, trays, pots, pans, utensils, fryers, grills, and other kitchen equipment; wash serving and food perpetration areas in accordance with established sanitation standards and procedures.
E Operate a variety of kitchen equipment including mixer, slicer, dishwasher, warmer, ovens, grills, charbroilers, and other.
E Perform cashiering duties as assigned; receive cash and make change.
E Assist in maintaining daily inventory records of food and drink items.
E Assist in monitoring appropriate student behavior during service hours.
E Prepare main dishes and entree; check recipes and estimate or measure quantities needed as assigned.
Assemble snack carts and assure proper maintenance of stock levels of food and drink items; restock as necessary.
Assure proper stock levels are maintained on condiment carts during lunch periods; stock drinking straws, napkins, and condiments as needed.
Assist in storage, rotation and inventory of food service supplies and materials.
Prepare and serve foods for the annual District breakfast.
Bake cookies, cakes, and breads as assigned.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities / Working Conditions KNOWLEDGE OF:
Methods of preparing sandwiches, salads, vegetables, and other foods in large quantities.
Basic food preparation including washing, cutting, and assembling food items and ingredients.
Proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies.

Standard kitchen equipment, utensils, and measurements.

Bend, reach and stand for extended periods of time.
Lift object weighing up to 40 pounds to waist height.

Indoor/outdoor environment.
